This impactful event directly funds scholarships awarded to participants in the Science & Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit, specifically recognizing student projects focused on environmental science.
28 Outings • $60,000 in Awards
Since launching the golf outing in 1997, the EMA has proudly awarded over $60,000 in student scholarships. Scholarship amounts are determined by funds raised through event participation, sponsorships, and on-course activities every year. Proceeds from the outing, including raffles, 50/50 drawings, Vegas holes, and novelty games, go directly toward supporting the next generation of environmental innovators.
Science Fair Benefactor Fund
In 2020, EMA introduced the Science Fair Benefactor Fund, providing businesses and individuals the opportunity to make a lasting impact by sponsoring scholarships for up to five years. This initiative allows benefactors to:
- Honor a legacy, individual, or environmental cause
- Directly support student achievement in environmental science
- Collaborate with EMA on scholarship focus areas and project criteria
The inaugural benefactor, the Doetsch family, established the James Doetsch Memorial Science Fair Scholarship in 2021. Their generous five-year commitment significantly increased scholarship funding, nearly doubling award amounts for participating students.
