Every year, the Environmental Management Association takes part in the annual Science & Engineering Fair of Metro-Detroit as professional awards judges for the high school environmental science category. Volunteers come together to interact with students and learn about their projects, evaluating each on the basis of research objective, design & methodology, skill & execution, creativity, and presentation. Students placing highest within this criteria receive monetary awards by way of our Environmental Achievement Scholarship Program.

In 2020 we established a Science Fair Benefactor Fund where any company or individual could commit to sponsoring our scholarship program directly for up to five years. This fund was established in efforts to honor a person, cause, and/or legacy related to environmental sustainability and stewardship in a way that allows them to support students directly while working with the EMA’ s Science Fair Committee to discuss any project parameters related specifically to the benefactor.

Thank you to the Doetsch Family, our inaugural benefactor with their commitment to a five-year (2021-2025) James Doetsch Memorial Science Fair Scholarship, a true legend in the environmental industry.
